We are excited to introduce Wael Ben Jemaa, who recently joined wheel.me as a Senior Test Engineer. With a strong background in electronics and IoT and a long-standing interest in robotics Wael brings valuable experience to the team. In this interview he shares why he chose wheel.me, what motivates him and what he hopes to achieve in his new role.
What made you decide to join wheel.me and what were your first impressions of the team?
"I have always wanted to work in robotics and when I applied for this position, I immediately felt that this was exactly the type of product I wanted to work on. The recruitment process was fast, but also challenging which made me even more confident in my decision and I accepted the offer right away. My first impression of the team was very positive. The team is young compared to my previous experiences and I was impressed by the mix of profiles. Seeing mechanical electronics robotics and embedded software backgrounds all working together on a complex product was something I really appreciated."

Can you tell us about your professional background and what drew you into testing?
"I am an electronics engineer and most of my career has been in the wireless connectivity and IoT field. Testing attracted me because it is a very challenging and interesting area. We need to understand customer use cases sometimes even better than other engineering teams and make sure that the product and the full system meet real market needs. And I also enjoy the challenge of discovering other people’s bugs."
Which part of your role excites you the most and what motivates you in your work?
"I enjoy working with system use cases, because as a QA engineer I have a global view of the product how it works, what its main features are and what usage challenges might appear. What motivates me the most is a mix of technical challenges, good vibe and customer satisfaction."
What are you looking forward to achieving here?
"Technical learning is always my main goal. I want to master the different components involved in robot design, understand industrialisation and maybe even learn more about commercialisation."
What do you enjoy doing outside of work and can you share a fun fact about yourself?
"Outside of work I enjoy football both playing and watching, and I also love reading and writing. A fun fact about me is that I dream in two different languages."
